Professor Risto Kosonen

Biography

Professor Risto Kosonen (D.Sc.) is a distinguished Full-Professor at Aalto University, leading a 25-person HVAC research team for over 25 years. Specialising in indoor climate, smart building services engineering, and energy efficiency, he holds leadership roles in key professional organisations, including Vice-President of REHVA and President of SCANVAC, FINVAC, and FiSIAQ.
A prolific author with over 320 international publications, Professor Kosonen's contributions have earned him prestigious awards, such as the Rydberg Gold Medal and REHVA Fellow distinction.

Biography

Dr. K. Srinivas Reddy, a renowned expert, earned his PhD in Energy Studies from IIT Delhi in 1999. Joining IIT Madras in 2003 as an Assistant Professor, he now serves as a distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering and holds an honorary professorship at the University of Exeter, UK. A Fellow of FNAE, FWSSET, and FISEES, Dr. Reddy specialises in renewable energy, focusing on solar power, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability. With 10 patent applications, over 300 publications, and USD15 million in research funding, his active involvement in solar thermal technologies follows a "4-D" approach. Recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Reddy has supervised 200+ research students, many now contributing to prestigious organisations.

Biography

Prof. Ruzhu Wang, born in China in 1964, is a globally recognised scientist specialising in energy efficiency and conversion. Holding a PhD from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (1990), he currently serves as a Distinguished Chair Professor at SJTU. Prof. Wang's impactful research includes breakthroughs in sorption refrigeration, desiccant-based heat pumps, and innovative air source-based heat pumps for steam generation. His contributions bridge materials and thermal engineering, with applications in global industries. With over 700 papers, 187 international conference papers, and numerous awards, including The Global Energy Prize (2023), Prof. Wang is a leader in the field.

Biography

Professor AbuBakr Bahaj (FICE, FIET, FRSA, MInstP, CPhys) is a distinguished leader at the University of Southampton, heading the 55-strong Energy and Climate Change Division and the Sustainable Energy Research Group. With over 30 years of experience, he progressed from a researcher to a Personal Chair in Sustainable Energy. With over 300 articles published in top-tier academic journals and conferences, Prof. Bahaj serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Marine Energy Journal. He holds visiting professorships globally and is a Fellow of FICE, FIET, and FRSA. As Chief Scientific Advisor to the City of Southampton and a member of the Research Advisory Group for the UK Department of International Development, Prof. Bahaj has been recognised as one of the UK's 100 leading practising scientists by the Science Council in 2014.

Biography

Prof. Hongxing Yang leads the Renewable Energy Research Group (RERG) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His extensive research focuses on renewable energy applications and energy-saving technologies in buildings, covering areas such as solar photovoltaic integration, wind power generation, evaporative cooling, ground-coupled heat pumps, and hybrid renewable energy systems. With over 500 academic papers and 7 professional books, including 300+ peer-reviewed journal papers, Prof. Yang is a recognised authority in his field. He was listed as a "Highly Cited Researcher" by Elsevier from 2016 to 2020 and ranked 15th among the most-cited Chinese scientists in 2022 in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Recipient of numerous awards, including recognition from the Chinese Ministry of Education for Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements, Prof. Yang serves as a Senior Editor for the International Journal of Applied Energy. He is also an editorial board member of the International Journal of Low Carbon Technologies and Future Cities and Environment.

Professor Xudong Zhao, a leading expert in Decarbonised Heating, Cooling, and Power Systems, is renowned for his groundbreaking work in super-performance dew point air cooling, hybrid solar heat & power systems, loop heat pipes, and double-source heat pumps. Recognised by prestigious platforms like the UN Climate Change Congress and BBC TV, his innovative technologies have left a lasting impact on engineering practices. With 68 research projects securing over £28m in funding, Prof. Zhao boasts 323 highly-cited papers. His leadership has extended to supervising 31 post-doctoral research fellows and 41 PhD students, earning him multiple national and international innovation awards. Additionally, he contributes to the UK EPSRC Engineering Prioritisation and holds fellowships with the European Academy, Energy Institute, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, and the World Society of Sustainable Energy Technologies, making significant contributions to conferences and meetings within these academic entities.
